Fiery Fellowship

An excellent evening of fellowship complete with hot dogs, roasted marshmallows and a big campfire.  Tonight was One Way Street Ministries's (Jericho's Light Club) annual "Camp Freeze," a fundraiser that highlights the plight of homeless people. One of the folks I interacted with tonight lives under a train trestle in a tent. He's been there since November and stayed there even through the coldest nights. It's humbling.

Feelin' Like a Natural Woman

There aren't many things more satisfying than using a chainsaw.
A large branch came down out of my silver maple tree following the heavy snow fall on Tuesday/Wednesday. And, with today's beautiful sunshine and matching temps, I revved up the Stihl and got to cutting. Love the smell and the exercise of muscles. Of course, tomorrow, those muscles will be complaining, but tomorrow is another day!

Other good things from today: got my fourth haircut, joined a fitness center, took Sedona to a dog park, and off tonight to serve folks at Jericho's Light Club, a soup kitchen on West Broad -- all of which are very satisfying as well. :)

Kind of looks like I used the chainsaw on Sedona,
but to the contrary that's just her favorite hang out
spot when the sunshines!

Quiet Snow Fall

Left home church tonight and walked out into the falling snow. It was beautiful and eerie. Driving down Route 33 at 11 o'clock at night with all that snow on the road and in the trees made it seem like another world. Sedona was with me and, as we approached the turn off into our neighborhood, well, we just kept on driving in that silent, snowy world. Eventually doubling back for home, we stopped at the nearby elementary school to frolic in the white stuff. I made a partial snowman for Sedona to tear down, lobbed some snowballs her way then packed up and went home. Sure glad I had a pair of boots stowed away in my truck!

A good night.
