Giving the CBitch a TKO!

Click Here to Support Laura & Andrea!
My good friend Andrea Strle is participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk in Cleveland (3 days/60 miles), August 3-5. in honor of me -- very, very humbling.

I am working to support her efforts through our team name: Laura's Moxie Crew

I'm going to be very direct in my pitch: I need you to help us make this walk a success by making a donation today.

Donations can be made in two ways:
1) Online by CLICKING HERE
2) By mail. Click now on print out a donation form. Mail your donation to Andrea at: 3260 Westbrook Place, Lewis Center, OH 43035

That was the quick sell. Below is information that puts a little more meat on the bones for those who want to know "the rest of the story."

Andrea is one of the most energetic, git ‘er done women I’ve ever met. We worked together in communications at the Dept. of Natural Resources where she was always in motion, always seeking to take on more. Today, she works from home while raising two beautiful girls and “more” is still part of her lexicon.

The "more" this time is the Komen 3-day walk in Cleveland (3 days/60 miles), August 3-5. Andrea, already interested in doing the walk when she heard about me, asked if she could walk in my honor.

STOP, I'm suspending that story line for a quick flashback to when I was first diagnosed. Among the plethora of rational and irrational thoughts that swirled chaotically in my head was this silly little gem: “… and I don’t want my friends pushing me to be some poster woman for breast cancer!” That, of course, was one of my irrational thoughts.

O.k., back to the present.

I said to Andrea, “Let’s do it!"
But, alas, I've not been holding up my end of the deal. So, my dear readers, I invite/ask/encourage (don't make me beg!) you to join me in supporting this endeavor. I am going to try to be in Cleveland for the event, though if there I'm likely to be little more than window dressing to her hard work.

I'm awed not only by Andrea’s motivation and commitment to raise funds to help find a cure, but by the millions of others doing the same. To realize that I am the direct beneficiary of that funded research, of that dedication, of that love -- it's overwhelming. We never know who is going to touched by cancer, we just know someone will: you, me, a loved one, a total stranger. Let’s take the gloves off today and give this CBitch a big TKO!
